Preparing for a job interview can be a daunting task, but thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), candidates now have a way to enhance their interview readiness. According to Jainita Hogervorst, Director of Aerviva Aviation Consultancy, a Dubai-based international consultancy, specialising in aviation recruitment and document management, AI can assist candidates in various ways, improving their chances of getting their dream job.

Even before you get the interview, AI-powered tools can help you stand out from other candidates. “By using AI, you can generate a personalised cover letter and customise your resume accomplishments and professional summaries to match the requirements of the position you’re applying for. This ensures that your application stands out and accurately reflects your relevant experience,” Hogervorst says.

AI can also assist in finding out the most common interview questions in a particular position in the aviation industry. “AI tools can generate a list of example interview questions commonly used by hiring managers in aviation. These questions cover various aspects such as your experience, problem-solving skills, teamwork abilities, and technical knowledge. By practising with these questions, you can better prepare your responses and feel more confident during the actual interview,” she explains.

Moreover, Hogervorst adds that when you know the common interview questions, you can utilise AI to help you craft compelling answers. “AI can provide guidance and tips on how to approach and answer specific interview questions. For example, if asked about a challenging situation you faced and overcame, AI recommends selecting a situation that demonstrates your problem-solving skills, resilience, and ability to work under pressure. With AI’s assistance, you can refine your answers and present yourself in the best possible light to potential employers.”

AI can also be used for a mock interview. “AI can act as an interviewer or hiring manager, asking you questions and engaging in a back-and-forth conversation. This practice session allows you to refine your responses, improve your communication skills, and gain confidence in your interview performance,” she shares.

Additionally, AI can offer interview tips and guidance on various aspects of the interview process. “Whether it’s advice on dressing appropriately, researching the company, or utilising body language, AI can provide valuable insights to help you excel in your interview.

Hogervorst believes that AI can be used instead of or as an addition to more traditional ways of preparation. “There are experienced trainers and online courses that can help candidates prepare for interview questions, reduce job-hunt related stress and better present themselves during the process.”

”While AI cannot ensure you a successful job interview, it can help you get ready for the process. “By using AI-powered tools, candidates can get tips and suggestions on how to prepare and better present themselves during the hiring process. With AI’s assistance, you can confidently navigate interview questions and increase your chances of landing your dream job.”
